Jeffry T. Watson, MD

Orthopedic Surgeon Specializing in Adult & Pediatric Conditions of the Upper Limb

Dr. Jeffry Watson is a fellowship-trained, board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in the treatment of adult and pediatric conditions of the upper limb. A skilled and highly trained surgeon, Dr. Watson has a special interest in post-traumatic reconstruction of the hands and upper extremity. He is also especially skilled in the treatment of complex fractures and microsurgical procedures such as vascular and nerve repair.

A teacher by nature, Dr. Watson strives to ensure that patients are both informed and empowered. He believes in honesty and will only advise patients to choose a surgical option when it is in their best interest. In some cases, nonsurgical treatment is appropriate, while in others, it is not.

In a nutshell, Dr. Watson believes in compassionate, honest care that allows patients to choose from a “menu” of options, which enables them to partner in their own care and make informed decisions guided by Dr. Watson’s many years as a top surgeon.

Dr. Watson graduated from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. He completed a successful orthopedic residency at the renowned Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, followed by a fellowship for hand and upper extremity care at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. He received the Kenneth Johnson Award for Teaching Excellence in June 2005 and June 2010 and was listed as a “Top Doc” by Colorado Springs Style magazine in 2014, 2015, and 2016.

After spending 11 years as a hand and upper extremity surgeon at Vanderbilt University, where he spearheaded and directed separate adult and pediatric brachial plexus programs (which involved early neurosurgical intervention, nonoperative optimization through therapy, and/or delayed orthopaedic procedures), Dr. Watson joined Colorado Springs Orthopaedic Group in April 2013.

With substantial experience in congenital conditions and upper limb development, Dr. Watson is a recognized leader in the treatment of pediatric anomalies of the hand and arm. He also participates in the education of residents and fellows at both the local and national levels. When not teaching or working with patients, Dr. Watson enjoys an active life of running, aviation, and time with his wife and children.
