Wrist Care

Did you know that your wrist is comprised of eight tiny bones known as carpals? These bones, along with a complex network of blood vessels, connective tissues, tendons, and a protective ligament on top, form the carpal tunnel, with the median nerve running through it.

Carpal tunnel syndrome is one of the most common wrist conditions we treat at Colorado Springs Orthopaedic Group (CSOG). Repetitive motions such as typing, sewing, or gripping a racket can cause tendons to swell and become inflamed, which can compress the nerves inside the carpal tunnel, causing numbness, pain, and even difficulty gripping objects.

Wrist fractures are also extremely common, especially those involving the scaphoid, a small bone located on the thumb side of your wrist. This bone is typically broken when you fall and put your hand out to absorb the impact.

Unless you are injured or affected by a disorder, you are not likely to spend a lot of time considering the intricate nature and critical functionality of your wrists. At CSOG though, we do.

Our wrist specialists have years of experience treating carpal tunnel syndrome, scaphoid fractures, and other conditions affecting the wrist and forearm such as:
